  • This was the official charity single for Sport Relief 2004 in the UK.
  • Stevens' producer Richard X was inspired by the sound of the British Electro duo Goldfrapp, in particular their song "Soft Machine."
  • In the Guardian newspaper February 24, 2006, Richard X said: "It was actually written with Girls Aloud in mind. Then my publisher suggested Rachel. It's about the way the music business treats people. Some of the lines were based on little anecdotes we'd heard. We were trying to tell a story. It's not like Rachel wasn't in on the joke. A lot of stuff I do is referential: the Glam-Rock sound was an aspirational pop thing from the past. I had this old Fairlight synthesizer that used to belong to the Thompson Twins, and the rubbish car noise made me laugh so I kept it in. The writing took a couple of days. You can spend a week writing a terrible song or a quarter of an hour on something magical. Given the dubious subject matter, I couldn't believe it was chosen as the BBC charity record. It made it all the sweeter."
  • The music video for 'Some Girls' was written by leading British screenwriter Richard Curtis, and filmed at Borough Market in Central London. Former world champion 110 meter hurdler Colin Jackson pops up in the video.
  • Geri Halliwell begged for a chance to record this witty take on pop's pitfalls before Richard X settled on Rachel Stevens. The ex Spice Girls' desperate attempts to change X's mind - locking herself in her car and writing him a love song - inspired "Me Plus One," Hannah Robinson and X's satirical song for Norwegian electro-pop singer Annie.
