  • Country Music Television (CMT) asked bass guitarist Jay DeMarcus what attracted Rascal Flatts to this song. He replied: "I think the simple message of that song is what attracted me to 'Every Day.' It's one of those simple yet profound lyrics. When you hear that chorus and he says, 'Every day you save my life,' it hits you like a ton of bricks. There are so many people that come in and out of your life that you feel that way about. So many people have stood behind me for so long. I immediately thought of my mom and how encouraging she was to me over the years, struggling in Nashville, and I wanted to give up and come back home and get an ordinary job somewhere. That song really moved me when I thought about those people that are in my life that I lean on so heavily. My wife, my family, it's just a really great song."
  • The song was written by Los Angeles-based singer-songwriter Alissa Moreno with Jeffrey Steele ("What Hurts The Most"). Moreno told The Boot the story of the song:

"I sat down at my piano one weird, rainy night in LA and came up with that hook. It had a lovely and somewhat random movement, chord-wise, which tended to leave me stuck and lead me nowhere. I must have played that thing for months on end and then finally gave up on it.

A few years later, I was playing it on a beautiful baby grand a few hours before Jeffrey Steele's soundcheck (we were going to try to write), and he said, "I love it! I have the perfect chorus for that: It goes, 'Every day, you save my life.'"

We sat with that a moment, and then he wandered around the piano, smoking his cigar and dropping genius thoughts and melodies like he always does. We got so tangled in the story, the time just flew by, and the whole moment felt magical and inspired. A few days later, I started playing it at my live shows, and I knew it was something special and that something bigger than me helped create it."

  • Jonathan from Paoli, InThis song reminds me of when i liked rascal flatts. After i accomplished my day of becoming what i knew i thought know more my life was dripping away through the floor.
  • Brock from Jackson, Miawesome song! nothing better than country music to cheer you up :-)
  • Rhianna from Somewhere, OhI absolutely can't stop listening to this song on YouTube. I view this song in one way, and it's because it pertains to me personally. About 8 months ago, I attempted suicide. I look back and realize that the people who have really gotten me through these last 8 months are the people I see everyday--my friends. I believe that they saved my life because if it weren't for their constant support and just being there, I woldn't be here right now. I dedicate this to them. I love you guys... The song can pretty much be seen for any situationm, not just for mine.
