Songfacts®:

  • "Feels Like Today" is the title track and first single from Rascal Flatts' third album. The song is about getting past an obstacle, deciding that today is the day to move forward. The lyric isn't very specific, making it suitable for anyone looking for a little inspiration in the morning.
  • This was written by the Nashville songwriters Wayne Hector and Steve Robson. Most of the group's songs were written by outside writers, and because they were so popular, they got pitched a lot. Robson often got the call: He also had a hand in their hits "These Days" and "What Hurts The Most."
  • "Feels Like Today" was a bit of a chart disappointment; it peaked at #9 on the Country chart despite a lot of hype for the album. But Rascal Flatts rebounded with their next two singles, which both topped the chart and became fan favorites: "Bless The Broken Road" and "Fast Cars And Freedom."
  • The music video takes a cue from the "I treated life like a picture" line, following a mysterious photographer around the boardwalk in Asbury Park, New Jersey. Like most Rascal Flatts videos around this time, it was made by the Deaton-Flanigen production team.
