Songfacts®:

  • This is an inspiring song about how we all face problems in our lives, but always overcome them and move on. It's a theme common to many Rascal Flatts songs: the power of perseverance when mixed with a little faith. >>>

  • "Stand" was written by the pro songwriters Blair Daly and Danny Orton. Daly's credits include "Hold On To Me" by John Michael Montgomery and "Smile" by Uncle Kracker. Orton's co-writes include "Fall Into Me" by Emerson Drive and "Let Me" by Pat Green.
  • This was the fourth and final single from Rascal Flatts' fourth album, Me And My Gang. It reached its Hot 100 peak of #46 in May 2007, over a year after the album was released. The band didn't do much of their own songwriting but they were road warriors, especially popular in 2006 because of their contribution to the movie Cars, a cover of "Life Is A Highway." In October, they played Madison Square Garden.
  • The video was done by the Tennessee director Shaun Silva, who also worked with teh group on "What Hurts The Most" and "I'm Movin' On." It shows a boxer, a painter, and a musician finding their strength and standing tall.
