Songfacts®:

  • Raye wrote this song of support for her sister Lauren when she was going through a difficult time.

    Call on me, oh
Oh, I will be there if you ask me to
    Call on me, oh
Everything that hurts you, it hurts me, too

Feeling heartbroken for her sister, Raye wants her to know whenever she feels she's going under, just to call her phone. She will be there for Lauren and help her fix it.
  • So what did Lauren think of this song? Speaking on Apple Music 1's The Rebecca Judd Show, Raye said her sister is normally reserved, "too cool for school," and often embarrassed by her, but her emotions came out when she played her "Call On Me." "It's very unlike her, you know," Raye added. "So it really kind of moved me to even believe in this song."
  • Lauren has helped Raye on several of her projects, including filming the scenes by her car and in her house for her and Regard's "Secrets" video.
  • Raye wrote the song with Tommy King, Anthony Rossomando, and the track's producers, Andrew Wells and Billen Ted. Will Jennings and Steve Winwood also get credited because it interpolates Winwood's 1982 single "Valerie," which he and Jennings co-wrote.
