Songfacts®:

  • The song is a rejection of religion in general though it is especially directed against Christianity and the missionaries who compelled people to change their religion. It shows how the religion is based on instilling fear in the people of what terrible things will happen to them if they deviate from the guidelines of their "faith." >>>

  • Chris from WalesThe song is a rejection of the lie that is modern religion as Antony clearly states he prefers a loving god, the creator was and will forever be just this. The greed and evil is the legacy of bowing down to the false gods who demand worship rather than deserve it. The modern faithful fear the coming of the deceiver or anti Christ and blindly follow in ignorance of the truth that they are already deceived!
  • Evan from Kali, MiAs an aspiring artist, this is one of the songs I'm trying to interpret with graphite pencil...and it's really hard! Any ideas or tips?
  • Bert from Pueblo, NmUm... Iron Maiden's "Hallowed Be Thy Name" is taken from part of The Lord's Prayer. RHCP made a pun out of that particular part of the prayer. Iron Maiden did not make up the line"Hallowed Be Thy Name," so the answer is no, it has absolutely nothing to do with Iron Maiden
  • Justin from Boston, MaHonestly, i was wondering that as well when i saw the name. would be interesting to find that out!
  • Johnny from Los Angeles, CaDoes this song have anything to do with Iron Maiden's "Hallowed be thy name?"
