Songfacts®:

  • Much of the Hi Infidelity album was inspired by, you guessed it, infidelity. "In Your Letter" is based on a real letter keyboard player Neal Doughty's wife left him, explaining that she was leaving him - he discovered it after returning home from a tour. The song takes her to task, no so much for the cheating, but for how she broke the news:

    You could've left him only
For an evening let him be lonely
But you hid behind your poison pen and his pride
  • The band's guitarist, Gary Richrath, wrote this song. Another Hi Infidelity track, "Take It On The Run," deals with his own relationship issues.
