Songfacts®:

  • "High On Love," from Roachford's 11th studio album, Twice In A Lifetime, is a song about moving from a place of darkness to a place of light after falling in love. Andrew Roachford revealed to Songfacts that it was inspired by "Teardrops" by Womack & Womack, adding, "The lyric is quite sad but the song is so uplifting but without being twee – it still has some kind of depth to it and that was my challenge there to fulfill."
  • Andrew Roachford told Songfacts that "High on Love" reminded him of "Cuddly Toy (Feel For Me)," Roachford's breakthrough hit from 1988. "'High On Love' was so much fun to make," he said. "When we were in the studio doing it, every time we pressed play to work on it was fun – just fun. It reminded me of the 'Cuddly Toy' feeling of where you could listen to it all day and not actually get bored of it."
  • In 2018, Andrew Roachford had surgery to remove lesions from his vocal cords. Speaking about how the procedure changed his voice, he said: "I'd say there's a slightly different character to it, but I quite like the new character. I'm a soul singer, so it's also about the feeling that you put into the music and not just about the voice. The feeling is what partly creates the sound, and you know I'll always be me, so I'll always have that feeling that I put into it. I actually prefer my voice now, which is weird, but I do."
