Songfacts®:

  • In a Songfacts interview with Andrew Roachford, he explained that "Ride The Storm" – from Roachford's 1994 studio album Permanent Shade Of Blue – is one of the songs he's most proud of. "There's a few songs that you just don't do a gig without doing," he said. "One of those songs is called 'Ride the Storm.' What I like about that song is the amount of people that came up to me and say it kind of saved their lives. The lyric is about getting through a hard time, and people come up to me and say they were in dire straits and the song brought them back. You don't get a bigger compliment than that really."
  • In 2007, "Ride the Storm" was remixed by the British DJ and producer Carl Kennedy. The remix was a big hit in the Ibiza club scene and helped expose Roachford to a whole new audience of dance fans.
  • Permanent Shade Of Blue was Roachford's third album and the follow-up to 1991's Get Ready! It was certified double Platinum in Australia and featured a wide range of session musicians, including British icon Jeff Beck, who provided guitar on "Emergency."
