Songfacts®:

  • This retro-funk jam is from Paula, an album that Thicke wrote and recorded in April 2014 following the breakdown of his marriage to actress Paula Patton. The singer-songwriter said during an interview on Hot 97 that while most of the record is an outright ploy to "Get Her Back," even the few songs that are not directly addressed to his ex wife play into the album's larger theme.

Thicke added that while he doesn't actually live in New York, he was inspired to write this song because Patton once mentioned wanting to move there.
