Songfacts®:

  • This piano-driven ballad is a track from Paula, an album that Thicke wrote and recorded in April 2014 following the breakdown of his marriage to his high school sweetheart Paula Patton. He sings here about still longing for her.

"The album is what happens when you lose the love of your life and you try to figure out in your head like, 'How am I gonna move on?' Thicke explained to radio station Hot 97. "Because we weren't together anymore, I had so much that I still wanted to apologize for and take responsibility for and that's what the album is about."
  • The song's music video a group of 8-year-old kids re-enacting a wedding. "They're singing the song and they have cake and they're all dressed to a T," Thicke said.
