Songfacts®:

  • In 1968 Roger Daltrey met his second wife, Heather Taylor, a tall, willowy American model. They married three years later, and had three children. Their first child, Rosie Lea was born in 1972. Daltrey wrote this tender ballad about watching his daughter growing up.
  • Originally considered for The Who, this is one of two new original compositions recorded by Daltrey for his 2018 As Long As I Have You album. He told The Sun that he originally had Rod Stewart in mind to record the song. However, he woke up one day while recording the record, and "could hear Certified Rose as a soul song. I just needed to add the right ingredients and change the bridge."

  • Joe from UsaThis song, "Certified Rose", along with two others co-written by Roger Daltrey from his 2018 "As Long As I Have You" album are real hidden gems. It would be super interesting to hear other serious vocal artists perform them, just to test their limits. Anyone from Chris Stapleton to Ed Sheeran to Bettye Lavette to Adele and Lady Gaga. The other two songs are: "Get On Out Of The Rain" and "Always Heading Home".
