  • Ronnie Dunn told Rolling Stone about this duet that he recorded with Reba McEntire. "It's about going to the beach and staying at a cheap motel and partying, like everybody does in Cancun. Spring Break, but not really Spring Break," he said. "It's two people reminiscing, looking back at what it was like. If we never go back to Mexico, we got it."
  • Dunn dished in press materials that Reba McEntire needed no persuading to appear on the track. "I played for Reba a song that's called 'Still Feels Like Mexico' and she came back and says 'I wanna sing on that,'" he recalled. "So just that quick, so sure, why not? How am I gonna tell you no? Are you kidding? I wouldn't tell her no anyway. She did it, and we mixed it and it's a duo, a duet."
  • This isn't the first time Dunn and McEntire have worked together. Brooks & Dunn and McEntire had a #1 hit in 1998 with "If You See Her," which was penned by Tommy Lee James, the same songwriter behind "Still Feels Like Mexico."

In 2008, an alternate version of Brooks & Dunn's Cowboy Town track "Cowgirls Don't Cry," featuring Reba McEntire's vocals on the final chorus was recorded and released after she and the duo performed the song on the 2008 Country Music Association Awards.

Dunn and McEntire wrote and performed the song "Does the Wind Still Blow in Oklahoma" for the Reba: Duets album.
