Songfacts®:

  • The first song written for Royal Blood's second album is a typically riff-driven number. It was played live for the first time by the band at the Reading Festival in late August 2015. Bassist and vocalist Mike Kerr told Gigwise: "I think that song came about a few months before Reading. We were so desperate to play it, so we did. The writing process really has just begun. Maybe that's like, the weirdest song on the record, I don't know yet – it's hard to say."
  • The phrase "swallow hook, line and sinker" is an idiomatic expression meaning to accept uncritically an idea or set of beliefs. Alternatively, to "fall hook, line and sinker" describes falling totally and utterly in love with somebody.

The term, which has been in use since the mid-19th century is a fishing metaphor referencing the three essential pieces of fishing tackle in angling. The hungry and gullible fish swallows not only the baited hook, but the sinker (lead weight) and some of the line as well.

  • Fabri from UruguayHi! I really like the site, cool facts, but would you consider adding the genre of the songs? Cause some are mixed genres and sometimes it's a little hard to distinguish. It would be great, thanks!
