Songfacts®:

  • This is the first single to be released by RPA & The United Nations Of Sound, a British rock band formed by vocalist Richard Ashcroft, former lead singer of The Verve.
  • In an interview with Q magazine Ashcroft was asked about the religious imagery in the song title. In his reply, the former Verve singer denied the song has spiritual connotations. Said Ashcroft: "I don't think religion and rock is where it's at for me. It seems to me that a lot of arena rock is borderline Third Reich and messianic in the way it's presented."
  • Ashcroft expanded on the song to The Sun July 2, 2010: "Those lyrics are no more religious imagery than Ian Brown singing, 'I am The Resurrection.' I don't believe that Ian Brown thought he was the resurrection, but Born Again says 'I've been given another chance.'"
