Songfacts®:

  • A track from the first Rubicon Cross album, "Next Worst Enemy" was written by lead singer CJ Snare (best known as the frontman for FireHouse) and guitarist Chris Green.

The pair met up at Snare's house after Green had gone through an awful breakup. Said Snare: "He was telling me about it, and he said, 'Mate, she went out with my soundman while I was on tour, I didn't even know it. I feel like I've been a victim of hit-and-run serial monogamy.' And I'm like, 'Yeah, I know, dude. It's like when you meet those girls, they become your best friend and your lover and everything like that. And then before you know it, and out of the blue, they become your next worst enemy.' We looked in each other's eyes and the light bulb went off. We had two killer lines there, and we wrote that song in an hour."
