Songfacts®:

  • The song on the Canadian Vine sensation's debut EP contains empowering and uplifting lyrics about accepting one's flaws. In our interview with Ruth, she revealed her sincere lyrical intention for the tune. "I wanted to give people some truth," she said. "That one's something I definitely felt in my life where people doubt you and tell you that you're not good enough. I think it's all those things that people tell you aren't good about you that actually make you who you are, though. So if I could go back in time when I was 14, it's the song I would give to myself and tell myself, 'It gets better. Just relax.'"
  • Ruth told us about her thought process while writing the song. "I sat down and I was like, 'How can I be honest?' It just happened real fast," she said. "It was more me sitting down and thinking back on experiences and just writing it. It wasn't one specific thing that inspired it. It was more me looking back and writing from an honest place."

  • Jb from Nashville, TnThis song has been a favorite of mine since 2015. I even got the word “Golden” tattooed on me. I grew up with a narcissistic mother who never made me feel like I was good enough. This song feels like it was written for my life.
  • Kara Pittman from Nashville Tennessee I love Ruth B. But I especially love this song it makes me feel good about myself and the things that happen in my life. I’ve dealt with bullies and being doubted and this song has always made me feel better.
  • Luna Heiden from Las Angela’s CaliI love Ruth B.... her music just hits a spot that other music can’t. It’s crazy how underrated she is. This song is beautiful and definitely gets me through my life a lot! You are loved Ruth!
