Songfacts®:

  • "Your Idol" is a 2025 song performed by the fictional K-pop boy band Saja Boys in Netflix' animated musical fantasy film KPop Demon Hunters. In the story, the Saja Boys are demons disguised as idols, created by the demon Jinu as part of a scheme to drain the energy of their fans and weaken a magical barrier (the Honmoon) that keeps demons from preying on humanity. Their popularity and performances are a front for this sinister goal.
  • The Saja Boys consists of five members, Jinu (the leader), Romance Saja, Mystery Saja, Abs "Abby" Saja, and Baby Saja. Their singing is performed by former K-pop Star contestant Andrew Choi (Jinu), Korean-American singer-songwriter samUIL Lee (Romance Saja), former U-KISS member Kevin Woo (Mystery Saja), K-pop vocalist and recording artist Neckwav (Abs "Abby" Saja) and YG Entertainment singer and songwriter Danny Chung (Baby Saja).
  • "Your Idol" arrives at a crucial turning point in the film when the Saja Boys peel off the last remnants of their glossy pop persona and go full demonic overlord. In a sequence that's equal parts music video and exorcism, they take the stage in flowing black hanbok and traditional horsehair hats, backed by a choir that seems to have been airlifted in from the Ninth Circle of Hell. It's here that they reveal their true selves: not heartthrobs, but soul-sucking vessels of evil.
  • "Your Idol" began life as an instrumental handed over by The Black Label, the YG Entertainment affiliate run by hitmakers Teddy Park and Kush. Singer-songwriter EJAE - whose real-world credits include Twice, Aespa, and Le Sserafim - was brought in to write the lyrics, collaborating with Kush and Vince. EJAE told Forbes she took cues from Christian hymns and EXO's "Mama" and "Obsessed," layering in harmonies and effects to make the song sound like it was recorded in a haunted cathedral. "We were going for creepy," EJAE said, "with a kind of old Latin vibe."
