Songfacts®:

  • The band wrote this song with Bob Marlette, who produced the album. Josey Scott, who was their lead singer at the time, composed the lyrics.

In our interview with Saliva guitarist Wayne Swinny, he explained that the song came very quickly, and was inspired by the AC/DC anthem "Back In Black," which Scott fell asleep listening to one night. "When we were kids, that was one of the songs you heard every time you went to a concert before the band actually played," Swinny said. "They'd be playing all the big, cool rock songs, and that's one you always heard. It's just a huge classic rock epic, and he wanted to write a song like that. So he [Scott] listened to it, went to sleep, and apparently dreamed it or just woke up with it in his head and that was where 'Click Click Boom' came from."

"I kind of thought, 'Wow, I do not hear that,'" Swinny continued. "But when I broke down the chord progression in my head, there were similarities to the basic structure. I thought, 'Well, that's kind of crazy.' I've tried to do that myself and it never did really work out."
  • A very aggressive song with an explosive chorus, this is often played at sporting events, especially football games.
  • The WWE used this song during their 2001 No Mercy special, and it also appears in the video game BMX XXX. Movies that have used the song include How High (2001), The New Guy (2002), Cradle 2 the Grave (2003) and Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby (2006).
