• This is a duet by two of the cast members from Nashville, an ABC drama series revolving around a fading Country music legend played by Connie Britton, and a rising star portrayed by Hayden Panettiere. Clare Bowen plays Scarlett O'Connor, a songwriter whom Panettiere's character hires to help her write more new songs, whilst Palladio portrays Gunnar Scott, an aspiring musician who is in love with Scarlett. This Trevor Rosen, Shane McAnally, and Matt Jenkins penned song featured in the third episode of the first series, "Someday You'll Call My Name." where the pair demonstrate their musical connection, as they record a demo version of this tune in the studio.
• Native Australian Clare Bowen has enjoyed a flourishing career in film, theatre and television. She started off in her home country with appearances in such TV series as Home and Away and also played the female lead in the controversial movie, The Combination. Bowen made her US film debut in 2011, when she was cast to play the lead role in the western Dead Man's Burden. Equally at home on the live stage, the gifted singer has performed in several theatre productions.
• English-born Sam Palladio studied theatre and music at Rose Bruford College in London. Television credits include his role as Stoke in Season Two of the Showtime hit Episodes, as well as appearances on two episodes of UK period drama, The Hour. His film credits include Runner, Runner, opposite Justin Timberlake and Ben Affleck. Like Bowen, Palladio is also a gifted singer having showcased his talents when he featured in the original cast for the West End musical Dreamboats & Petticoats. He also a singer-songwriter and a member of an indie folk band called Salt Water Thief. Palladio actually landed the part of Gunnar Scott after reading the pilot script for Nashville, and sending the show's producers demo recordings from his London flat.
• Palladio and Bowen's first success as a duo was a cover of the Civil Wars' song "If I Didn't Know Better," which they performed on Nashville's pilot. Within hours of the show's premiere, their version had climbed to #30 on the iTunes singles chart.
• The two actors had never performed with one another until they started filming the hit TV show. "We'd just met that morning for the first time," Palladio recalled to CMT of their first ever encounter. "Buddy Miller turned up; he's obviously an incredible singer and producer. He took us up to one of the hotel rooms while sort of gritting his teeth. And we were doing the same, because the audition process hadn't involved singing together. They'd just thrown us in the deep end. Buddy started playing the riff of 'If I Didn't Know Better,' and Clare started singing and sounded incredible. I thought, 'Oh, my God, I've got to up my game because she sounds great!'"
