Songfacts®:

  • Sam Phillips didn't leave her spirituality behind when she left the Christian music industry. Her faith is still very much a part of her life and, in turn, is reflected in her music. She points to this song as an example, and specifically the lyrics "There's no time like now, there's no time like this time." She explained the spiritual resonance of the simple words in our Songfacts interview: "To me, that's one of the most basic spiritual principles; just staying in the moment and really living life to the fullest. In the moment and staying present. Being aware of what's going on around you. Don't get too far ahead of yourself and start worrying about things you have no control over. Don't get too far in the past and beat yourself up over things you might have done wrong. Those kinds of things, to me, don't even seem spiritual because they're so large."
  • For the Push Any Button album, Sam wanted to do something special for her fans and created "250 limited edition, handmade, repurposed art-piece record jackets." For those with simpler tastes or smaller budgets, a mass-produced album cover version is available for a cheaper price.
  • Sam nearly scrapped this song when she first got the idea, because it seemed too simple. She told Caught in the Carousel: "'This could be a commercial in the 70s for Timex' (laughs), or – I don't know – because it was so simple, I was a little leery of it at first. But I relaxed and thought, 'It's such an important concept that there is no time right now – being in the moment. It's such a big concept, why don't I open it up?'"
