Songfacts®:

  • Sammy Hagar released this song with The Circle, a supergroup he formed with his ex-Van Halen bandmate Michael Anthony on bass, Black Country Communion and intermittent Led Zeppelin drummer Jason Bonham, and guitarist Vic Johnson. This hard-rocking song is the lead single from their album Space Between.
  • The Space Between album was written by Hagar, with each song unfolding like a novel based around the themes of money and greed. The singer explained to the Broward Palm Beach New Times in 2018:

"It's about the misconception that money is the root of all evil, because the truth of the matter is that it isn't money at all. You can feed the poor, you can heal the sick, you can make people happy, you can stop a war with money, but it's greed that is the problem. That's what the whole record is about. It's what I discovered by being both rich and poor."
  • This song is the eighth track on the album. Its music video was directed by ZZ Satriani, who is the son of Hagar's Chickenfoot bandmate Joe Satriani. The clip depicts a spoiled, wealthy young woman who lives off her trust fund and spends her life at debauched parties.

Hagar explained the visual gives an extreme glimpse into the song, "nailing what happens when kids are given too much money – to early in life – and it becomes an affliction. All the money in the world isn't a guarantee for a good life. I'm a believer in working hard and finding purposeful work – but that comes in a later chapter."
  • Space Between debuted at #4 on the Billboard 200, becoming the first project featuring Sammy Hagar's name to reach the top 10 of the album chart. Hagar's previous highest-charting previous solo longplayer was 1987's I Never Said Goodbye, which peaked at #14.
