• Sandi Thom said the inspiration for this song came from a gig she played at the El Mocambo in Toronto on her birthday in 2006. Stevie Ray Vaughan, the legendary American white blues guitarist, was tragically killed in a helicopter crash in August 1990, aged just 35. He had played the El Mocambo several times over the years. Thom was told by a barman that his ghost haunted the venue, and that he liked to play in the dark. She wasn't sure if he was having her on, but after the gig and a backstage drink or two she was the last person out, and heard what she thought was a guitar playing in his style as she turned out the lights. She wasn't sure if it was someone actually playing, or a radio, but, she said, she hates the dark, so was a bit spooked. >>>
