Songfacts®:

  • The closing track of Santana IV is an ode to the act of pardoning. "Forgiveness, to me, is this," Carlos Santana told Mojo. "There are three kinds of speeds that we know: the speed of sound, the speed of light, and the speed and velocity of forgiveness. Once you forgive, you don't have to remember, because you let it go and you realise it. So don't bulls--t yourself, man: 'I'll forgive but I can't forget.' That's BS. You're playing games with your ego, you know?"

"To forgive, you're moving really fast," he added. "That's velocity, and that's speed. Because now you're moving at the speed of... at the speed of a saint."
