Songfacts®:

  • In our interview with Sara Watkins, she explained: "'You and Me' was inspired by moments when I look back on my life and see the different phases, and gatherings of months and years - remembering the important relationships of those times and remember who those people were and who I was."
  • Sun Midnight Sun was Watkins' second solo album. It featured contributions from her Nickel Creek bandmate (and brother), Sean Watkins and production by Blake Mills. This track features harmony vocals by Jackson Browne, who brought Watkins along as his opening act on his 2012 summer acoustic tour. Watkins told us: "He's just been very generous with his time and I really love his curious excitement. He wants to learn things, he wants to play with people, he is always willing to play the songs he has played a million times."
