Songfacts®:

  • Lead singer Jon Oliva told Holland edition Aardschok/Metal Hammer in February 1990: "'Of Rage And War' is our humorist view of what the political world is all about. Maybe, also a little bit our frustrated opinion of how it all fits together, which persons are top notch, which people are pulling the ropes. You shouldn't try to find too many hidden meanings because first and foremost it simply is an ultra-heavy Savatage song with extremely aggressive guitar parts. Text and music, in that respect, accomplish each other very well. It is of course terrifying to have to live with the thought that somewhere in this world some or other lunatic needs only to touch the wrong button in order to turn the entire world into an inferno, but at the same time there's nothing you can do about it. Look at the amount of countries that are in possession of nuclear weapons nowadays. The only thing you can do yourself is transform your powerlessness into anger, for which you need to find an outlet then. In that respect, 'Of Rage And War' of course is an excellent song." >>>
