Songfacts®:

  • "Tap In" is a raunchy number where Saweetie brags about her wealth, jewelry and what it takes to bag an "eight-figure" man.
  • Saweetie is known for flipping classics from the 2000s hip-hop era. Here she repurposes the beat from fellow Bay Area Native Too Short's 2006 hit "Blow the Whistle," including its signature whistle sounds.

Saweetie previously sampled Khia's 2002 single "My Neck, My Back" on 2017's "Icy Girl," and Petey Pablo's 2003 classic number "Freek-A-Leek" for her 2019 hit song "My Type."
  • Lukasz Gottwald, aka Dr. Luke, produced the track. One of the most commercially successful songwriters of the late 2000s and early 2010s, in 2010 Billboard named him both the #1 Hot 100 Songwriter of the Year and Number One Producer of the Year. However, Gottwald's career came to a grinding halt in 2014 following a series of lawsuits initiated by Kesha alleging sexual assault and abuse. After New York Judge Shirley Kornreich dismissed Kesha's claims he made a commercial resurgence thanks to his work with Doja Cat. Luke produced five tracks on her Hot Pink album, including her #1 hit, "Say So."
  • Saweetie teamed up with Post Malone, DaBaby and Jack Harlow for a remix that she dropped on August 28, 2020. The new rendition retains the rapper's original chorus and first verse while the three guests all bring their signature sound to the song.
  • Saweetie released this as her lead single from Pretty Bitch Music on June 17, 2020. She told Billboard it was an obvious choice as its release coincided with the Black Lives Matter riots and protests. "I wanted to have a message, and 'tapping in' doesn't only mean to parties," she explained. "It means tapping into the things you care about - and I care about change in my community and in the country."
