• In an interview with Biff Byford in Kerrang!, February 20, 1988, the inspiration for this track is revealed. During the Second World War, Stuka bombers had sirens fitted to them to make a terrifying noise. This is actually about the bombing of Poland, the invasion of which by Adolf Hitler on September 1, 1939, led to an ultimatum by British Prime Minister Neville Chamberlain, and when that was not complied with, the two countries were at war. September 3, 1939 is actually the official date of the start of the war, except for the Americans, who joined the fray after the bombing of Pearl Harbor on December 7, 1941.
  
  The name Jericho Siren is of course of Biblical origin, after the Battle of Jericho in which the walls of the city were meant to have been brought down by nothing more than sound.
