Although it was not their first single, "Stallions Of The Highway" is probably the track that introduced Saxon to the record buying public as part of the vanguard of what was then known as the New Wave Of British Heavy Metal.

It was released on the Carrere label in 1979 backed by "Big Teaser," and a live version was released as the B-side of their next single, "Strangers In The Night." The theme of the song is one that was developed with tracks such as "Motorcycle Man" and "Wheels Of Steel". >>

Jeff from Austin, TxIn the early 90s, my buddy and I were looking at old vinyl LPs at a local music store and found this album. Since we were both Metallica fans, we had heard about Saxon from Metallica interviews and such. But we had never actually heard any Saxon material.

Since Metallica had been fans of the band, and since it had the most gnarly cover art we had ever seen, I had to buy this record. I had an old turntable that still worked, and we went home took out the record and dropped the needle.
WOW!!!! STALLIONS OF THE HIGHWAY!!!
It's the first song on the album and man, does it ever kick a**!!
I got more into Saxon in the months and years after that, and my favorite material is actually the next few albums after this one.
But this album, and specifically "Stallions of the Highway", will always hold a special place for me.
