Songfacts®:

  • This is a track from Hebrews, which is Say Anything's sixth studio album. The title and many of its lyrics reference frontman Max Bemis' Jewish upbringing.
  • Hebrews features an assortment of vocalists that include Andy Hull of Manchester Orchestra on this song. Bemis told Billboard magazine that the guest singers were called on to do more than just come in and sing. "I thought it would be cool to have people contribute and sometimes write their own lyrics and make it feel like a bunch of people were involved on the record," he said. "Hip-hop and R&B and pop singers are all about that, so why isn't it something we do more in rock and add those different flavors to the mix? There's no reason we can't."

"So, for instance, on 'Six Six Six,' Jon Simmons of Balance & Composure sang something I wrote just for him, then Andy Hull wrote and arranged and recorded his whole part completely over a blank piece of music," Bemis continued. "But anyone who wrote a part for their song or even just sang on it understood what the song meant. The whole thing was really cool."
