Songfacts®:

  • The first single from Schoolboy Q's Blank Face album finds the TDE rapper comparing himself to fictional mobster Tony Montana, Al Pacino's drug lord character in the 1983 film Scarface. Like Montana, Q also indulges in drugs, women and money.
  • Other references to Tony Montana in hip-hop include:

"Gifted" by French Montana ("Tony Montana on his last batch. This that Wayne Gretzky on his last scratch. This that Derek Jeter on his last catch".)

"R.I.C.O." by Meek Mill ("I go make 50 million then I give some millions to my people. They gon' go Tony Montana and then cop them some shaq at the free throws.")

Nas got the idea for the title of "The World Is Yours" from a scene in Scarface where Tony Montana is in his mansion as a blimp flies by with the message "The World Is Yours." Though the blimp was advertising Pan American airlines, Montana saw it as a sign.

Rick Ross' video for "No Games" features the Maybach Music Group head honcho paying homage to Tony Montana.
  • TDE's in-house producer Tae Beast of Digi+Phonics, contributed the production. Tae Beast sampled for the track the drums from Christine McVie's 1970 song, "And That's Saying a Lot."
  • The album version features a verse from Yonkers-based rapper Jadakiss. The Blank Face version is a two-part song, with the second half named "Eddie Kane" after the character in the musical The Five Heartbeats.
