Songfacts®:

  • Sea Girls is a London-based rock band comprising singer Henry Camamile, guitarist Rory Young, bassist Andrew Noswad, and drummer Oli Khan. This song is the lead single from their debut album, Open Up Your Head, which peaked at #3 on the UK albums chart.
  • Camamile worked at a pub before Sea Girls got signed by Polydor. One day a cellar door fell on his head in a freak accident, leaving him with post-concussion syndrome. The singer remained in denial about the effect it had on him; he continued playing gigs and partying, refused all help, and kept his suffering to himself.

Writing songs was Camamile's one outlet for his true feelings. "I guess that's why the album's called Open Up Your Head," he told Apple Music. "It was the first place I put into the world what might be going on with me."
  • This is one of the songs Camamile wrote during the challenging period of his life. He told The Sun, "It's incredibly relevant to the album title, because it's about hiding in plain sight and hiding your mindset. I wrote this right in the middle of when I was obsessed about how my brain had changed post head injury and how I was annoyed that I didn't feel the same and wasn't on form anymore and all the problems that brought. This song is basically saying, let's not talk about that!"
