Songfacts®:

  • Producer/songwriter Sean Garrett is best known as the co-creator of such hits as Usher's "Yeah!," and Chris Brown's "Run It!." However, Garrett also records his own material and this R&B lover's jam is the lead single from the Atlanta native's sophomore album, Up.
  • Garrett told Billboard magazine that he feels the song is filling a gap in the market. "I love the record 'Feel Love' because we don't really have any love story records on the radio, especially at urban," he explained. "All of the records are really direct about sex, which is good but we don't have any kind of LL Cool J 'I Need Love' records. So 'Feel Love' is one of those records that is a very honest record. It's something that I feel like women definitely are missing."
  • The song features a contribution from rapper J.Cole, who was the first artist signed to Jay-Z's Roc Nation label.
