Songfacts®:

  • This is the title track from Sean Kingston's third studio album. The song finds him reflecting on his survival of a near-fatal jet ski accident and open heart surgery in 2011. It features rapper T.I. whilst longtime producer and mentor J. R. Rotem mans the controls.
  • The song samples British group Soul II Soul's hit single "Back To Life." Like Kingston, the British band Beautiful South also borrowed Soul II Soul's line, "back to life, back to reality" for one of their songs. However they changed the word "life" to "bed" for their 1990 single "My Books." Soul II Soul leader Jazzie B sued them and won.
  • The song's music video was shot in Los Angeles and as well as Kingston and T.I. also features comedian Mike Epps.
  • The song and album title comes from Kingston's recovery from his near-fatal jet ski accident. "I'm coming back to life," he told The Boombox. "God gave me a second chance at life, ya know. I'm coming back, this is basically a whole new me. I'm more humble. I'm more levelheaded. I've been through a lot. I appreciate life, so it's basically I'm back and this is me."
