Songfacts®:

  • This was the lead single from Sean Paul's fourth album, Imperial Blaze, the follow-up to his 2005 set The Trinity.
  • Stephen "Di Genius" McGregor, who is the son of the reggae singer Freddie McGregor, produced this song. McGregor also helmed several other tracks on Imperial Blaze, including the 2007 promo single, "Watch Dem Roll."
  • In this song, Paul assures a girl who's "So Fine" that he'll be her sunshine, if she'll be his windshine.
  • The dancehall star Sean Paul is the most successful Jamaican artist ever on the US charts. Prior to 2009 he'd achieved three #1 singles: "Temperature," "Get Busy," and "Baby Boy."
  • Sean Paul told Digital Spy about this tune: "It's a real party song to get people out there and enjoying themselves. It was produced by Stephen McGregor, who's the 19-year-old son of Jamaican balladeer Freddie McGregor, and it's got a really uplifting vibe to it. It's about me meeting a girl and realising how far I'd go for her."
  • Sean Paul explained the album title to Digital Spy: "Some people have been saying it's about smoking on a big spliff, but it's a bit more than that. Imperial Blaze is that part of you that makes people notice you - it's the king's fire that's within you. For example, you're the best journalist in the world and conduct great interviews. Me, my imperial blaze is that I'm able to spit hot rhymes and hot lyrics and come up with great melodies. I'm the s--t in that respect."
