Songfacts®:

  • Alessandro Lindblad a.k.a Alesso, was a 20-year-old Swedish DJ/Producer when he teamed up with Sebastian Ingrosso to record this track. Ingrosso is part of the famous trio of DJs known as the Swedish House Mafia, who are also from Sweden. He is also the owner of Refune Records, the label that "Calling" was released through on August 31, 2011.
  • "Calling" is the first track and single that Sebastian Ingrosso and Alesso did together since Sebastian took him under his wing early in 2011. These two Swedes proved a successful team, as the track was nominated for Pete Tong's Tune of the Year for 2011.
  • The progressive, catchy melodies and banging drums heard in "Calling" are the definition of Progressive House Music, a genre of EDM that is extremely popular. These progressive sounds give a track more energy and make it seem as upbeat and fast as other genres of EDM, even though the BPMs (beats per minute) are relatively lower than in other genres.
