Irish DJ and producer Shane Codd's first big break came when he was a finalist in the 2018 Breakout Producer competition held by Dublin DJ Mark McCabe. After performing in cities and towns across Ireland, Codd released this piano-driven vocal house banger as his debut single.
Codd originally made "Get Out My Head" in the spring of 2020 when he took a break from his college studies of Business because of the COVID restrictions. He created the song in his bedroom as a response to the suffocating coronavirus lockdown. Codd explained: "I wanted to get out and do things and I also wanted the stress of COVID out of my head."
Making the track was a form of escape for the producer; when he played it in his car he "imagined festivals and people dancing," which felt like a distant memory during COVID.
When Codd posted the track online he was blown away by the positive reaction, with people saying how it helped them during lockdown. The viral song generated a buzz of interest from major labels, and Polydor signed the young Irish producer. After the label re-released the track, it started climbing the UK and Irish charts.
