Songfacts®:

  • This song was written by Shania Twain and her producer husband Robert John "Mutt" Lange and was originally released to North American Country radio stations on September 23, 2002 as the first single from her 2002 album Up!.
  • Twain said: "There is a typical Shania attitude in the lyric, a definite female confidence. It's all about a girl who knows what she wants, she not only knows how to get it, but she's going to get it good." (Source Tommy's #1 Shania Twain Supersite)
  • The song was one of Twain's biggest hits worldwide, charting in different countries that she has never had hits in before. The song entered Hot Country Songs at #24 in the week of October 19, 2002, the then highest debut for a female artist. In all, the song hit the top ten in fourteen countries including the US and topped the singles charts in Canada and Romania.
  • At the 2003 Juno Awards this was named Country Recording of the Year.

  • Karen from Manchester, NhMy daughter was born around the time this song came out, and she was hooked from babyhood! Granted, I think she was born to be a Shania fan, as the song that was playing the moment she was born was "That Don't Impress Me Much". The real funny thing is, I was never a Shania fan until my daughter started liking her!
