• This song was inspired by a moment of recognition that when the bad stuff happens in life the positive things are still there. "I was at home, looking out at the ocean, and I said to myself, 'Here I am stuck in this past of negativity, but it's so beautiful out. I'm not in the mood to write a feeling-sorry-for-myself song,'" Shania Twain recalled of the track's inspiration. "You can't have the good without the bad. And that's what the song ended up being about."
• The song was released as the lead single from Twain's first new album in 15 years. She debuted the tune during her headlining set at the Stagecoach Country Music Festival in Indio, California on April 29, 2017.
• This soundtracks NBC's commercial advertising their coverage of the 2018 Winter Olympics. "We're always looking for a great piece of music to help tell the story," NBC Sports chief marketing officer Jenny Storms told Variety. "Especially when it's the Olympics, you have an opportunity to tell a great story. This piece of music, 'Life's About to Get Good,' speaks so perfectly to what we're talking about."
• The track is a little bit different to most of the other tunes on Now. Twain said:
  
  "It's definitely one of the more chirpy songs on the album, that's what I would say, but it still has that melancholy story to it in the verses. We're not quite there yet, but I can see the light at the end of the tunnel type of the thing. That's what the song is about obviously, and it's a little bit of a satire this song. I'm kind of making fun of that and I'm having fun with like, 'Oh boy, [I] can't wait for things to get better. I can see the light. I'm going to head there toward that.' And then I just sort of make fun with that in the musicality of the song."
• The song's music video was shot in the Dominican Republic. Twain borrowed her Man! I Feel Like a Woman! outfit from Nashville's Country Music Hall of Fame for the clip, top hat and all.
