Songfacts®:

  • This song was written by New York-based singer, Shayna Leigh, and the producers of her debut album Drive, Peter Zizzo and Michael Mangini. In our interview with Leigh, she explained to us how the tune came to be. "We wrote 'Crash' shortly after 'Drive.' I was just on the upswing from what was a pretty rocky time in my life, so I think it naturally arose from that. I'm actually pretty sure that a few lines of the chorus had already been written when I joined in (which is not unusual - songs are always being written and re-written and repurposed), but it felt meant to be. I was learning to fly after having crashed. I was rebuilding my life and my sense of self after a series of heartbreaks and losses."
