Songfacts®:

  • "Dance Alone" is a self-empowerment dance-pop track where Kylie Minogue joins Sia to celebrate self-discovery and liberation. They sing about finding power in their own company, embracing independence and individuality even when their partners ditch them. "Happy, so free, look at me, finally," sings Kylie in her verse.
  • This is the second time the two Australian artists have collaborated. In 2014, Sia executive produced Minogue's Kiss Me Once album, co-writing the songs "Sexercize" and "Kiss Me Once."
  • Sia co-wrote "Dance Alone" with her regular collaborator Jesse Shatkin ("Chandelier," Alive"). Shatkin co-produced the track with American producer Jim-E Stack (Joji's "Your Man," Gracie Abrams' "Friend").
  • Minogue first teased "Dance Alone" before a show at her residency in Las Vegas in late January 2024. Atlantic Records released it on February 7, 2024, as the second single from Sia's 10th studio album, Reasonable Woman.
