Songfacts®:

  • Growing up, British DJ Sigala was hugely into trance songs by the likes of Tiesto and Armin van Buuren. He took inspiration from that part of his life for the sound of this house club-ready release.
  • Sigala tapped The Voice 2012 semifinalist Becky Hill to provide the vocals. The soulful singer is best known for her chart-topping collaboration with Dutch house producer Oliver Heldens, "Gecko (Overdrive)." Other collaborations include ones with Wilkinson ("Afterglow") Rudimental ("Powerless") and MK and Jonas Blue ("Back and Forth").
  • Lyrically, the song finds Becky Hill letting her beau go in a loving way.

It's sad we're not together, but I wish happiness for you
I know we said forever, love don't always make it through

Though Hill's lover has hurt her she would like to stay together. However, in breaking up in a civilized way she hopes he will remember she was always good to him.
  • Becky Hill wrote the lyrics shortly after breaking up with her boyfriend of three years. She told OfficialCharts.com:

"I'd begun to realize he didn't treat me right and couldn't love me or himself so the song is really about wanting someone to go and have a good life but not be a part of mine whatsoever lol."
  • The song was included on Becky Hill's 2019 career-spanning compilation album Get to Know.
  • Becky Hill is one of seven people listed as a writer on the credits. When the BBC asked what her contribution was, she replied: "My strength is in melody and lyrics. I had the phrase 'wish you well' written down on my phone because I really like to have concepts and stories in songs. And although I'm not particularly great on chorus melodies, I came up with the first half of that chorus."
  • Sigala was the first artist to let Becky Hill, who had done about 10 different features, star in their video. The singer told The Daily Star she is grateful for the DJ-and-producer for allowing her to appear in his clip as it heightened her recognition. "I started to see a whole lot of good come from that song," she said.
