Songfacts®:

  • This is the first single by Irish singer-songwriter Sinéad O'Connor, from her ninth full-length album, titled How About I Be Me (And You Be You)?. The song's title is taken from an Arab expression for a break in the clouds: "The wolf smiles as he's on his way to his wedding." The singer first heard the phrase from a taxi driver and crafted a joyful celebratory song around it. The single was released on February 20, 2012 on One Little Indian.
  • Marco Pirroni has a songwriting credit and plays guitar on this track. His career goes back to the early punk days and his first appearance on stage was with Siouxsie and the Banshees during their debut gig in 1976. In the early 1980s, Pirroni was an integral part of Adam & The Ants, acting as their lead guitarist and co-songwriter, penning two UK #1 singles and selling more than eighteen million records worldwide. He has worked with O'Connor since appearing on her 1987 debut album, The Lion and the Cobra.
  • The video was directed by Roman Rappak, lead singer of London multi-media band/outfit Breton.
