Songfacts®:

  • Mötley Crüe and Sixx: A.M. co-founder Nikki Sixx is a former drug abuser whose memoir of addiction, The Heroin Diaries: A Year In The Life Of A Shattered Rock Star, reached the Top 10 on the New York Times nonfiction best seller list. The topic of sobriety remains dear to his heart; Sixx conceived the idea for a charity single to campaign awareness of the opioid crisis in the US. He decided to record a new version of Sixx: A.M.'s 2016 track "Maybe It's Time," enlisting some of his musician pals for the project.
  • Released on August 21, 2020 as the "Artists For Recovery," version the stacked new rendition features:

    Def Leppard vocalist Joe Elliott
Slipknot and Stone Sour frontman Corey Taylor
    Guns 'N' Roses guitarist Slash
Five Finger Death Punch singer Ivan Moody
    Bad Wolves vocalist Tommy Vext
    Country artist Brantley Gilbert
    Members of AWOLNATION.
  • All artist royalties from the song are being donated to the Global Recovery Initiatives foundation (GRI), on which Sixx is a board member. The organization supports programs that provide services to people recovering from substance use disorders.
  • The song features in the docufilm Sno Babies, which "depicts the grim realities of teenage addiction and its effects on a middle-class suburban town." Both the movie and the fund-raising record were released by Better Noise.

  • Just Sally from AnywhereThis song is amazing. Just lost a wonderful family member before Christmas. I wish he knew I cared. Wish I had reached out sooner. I know they have to want it, but sometimes, that is not so easy. Even if it's not the first time.I hope he knows.
