Songfacts®:

  • "Bullet From A Gun" is an autobiographical and unwaveringly honest track that finds Skepta taking pride in his Nigerian heritage.

I was a young boy mum told me what my name really means
And the power just kicked in

Skepta was born Joseph Junior Adenuga Jr. in Tottenham, North London to immigrant parents from Nigeria. Adenuga originates from the Yoruba people and means "the king/crown/royalty has a foundation." In April 2018, he was installed as a chief in his Nigerian hometown in Ogun State, receiving the chieftaincy title of the Amuludun of Odo-Aje.
  • Skepta became a father for the first time in 2018. Here, he reflects on the birth of his daughter.

Recently I've been learning a lot
All I know is there's no better feeling
Than getting home and seeing my little girl in a cot

The joys of fatherhood trumps anything else the grime icon has previously experienced.
  • Skepta produced the track with Ragz Originale, who previously helmed a handful of the tracks on Konnichiwa, including the single "Shutdown."
