• The title track to Skillet's fifth studio album, this examines faith in the midst of fear. After the 9/11 terrorist attacks and subsequent "War on Terror," Skillet frontman John Cooper was disappointed to see apocalyptic Christian movies that seemed to exploit the fear believers were feeling, so he wrote "Collide" to give people a sense of hope. He told Listenin.org: "You have all these people saying 'Oh it's the end of the world, it's this and this' and I just wanted to write a song saying hey, I know what it is to be afraid but we can overcome that with our faith - we have something to believe in that's secure."
• Cooper told Brio Magazine how the album differs from the Christian rock band's earlier releases: "We sing about issues on this album that we haven't sung about before. Our past records have been geared toward the church and big-picture Christianity - the kingdom of God and revival. This album deals with issues everyone has gone through at some point. We sing about fear. The album title, Collide, is about that very thing: What do you do when you're a believer wanting to live in faith, but you're bombarded with fear every day?"
• The album reunited the band with producer Paul Ebersold, who co-produced their first two albums, Skillet (1996) and Hey You, I Love Your Soul (1998).
• Collide was nominated for Best Rock Gospel album at the 2005 Grammy Awards. It lost to Third Day's Wire.
