  • When Skillet frontman John Cooper started becoming stressed about the swift passage of time, he poured his emotions into this song. "My wife [Korey Cooper, Skillet's keyboardist] makes a joke and says that I've entered mid-life crisis at 26," he explained in a 2001 interview. "I feel that I'm just out of high school but I'm not, I'm like eight years out of high school. I feel like my life is like, slipping away, and just the idea that we don't have very much time here on earth. The only way to escape that 'life slipping away' is to be born again, you know, with a life that can't end. So the line 'underneath is my reality' is this is my skin, but underneath there in my soul is my truest reality, my life that never ends." (source: Listenin.org)
