Songfacts®:

  • Skylar Grey's haunting vocals detail here a woman whose lover won't fully commit. The song plays during the end credits of the movie 50 Shades of Grey along with The Weeknd's "Earned It." Both tunes were co-penned by Canadian composer and arranger Stephan Moccio, whose resume also includes Celine Dion's "A New Day Has Come," Nikki Yanofsky's "I Believe" and Miley Cyrus' "Wrecking Ball."
  • Skylar Grey recalled the writing of the song with Moccio against the background of a huge amount of carnal hype for the movie adaptation of E.L. James' steamy best seller. "We tried to be a bit more emotional about it instead of focusing on the sex," she told Billboard magazine. "We both read the book and then we got together and talked about the themes and the different places in the story we felt like we should try writing for. We started out by just trying to get the mood and the emotion and him playing chords and singing melodies and being like 'Yeah that feels right.'"
