  • Skylar Grey wrote this song for the Suicide Squad soundtrack. It marked the first time she'd released a song in which she was the primary rapper. Grey explained in a Genius attribution that her rhyming was originally intended to be a placeholder, which would later be replaced by a proper rapper. "But people ended up liking what I did and kept it," she wrote. "I was like, 'OK, I guess I'm putting out a rap song.' It's pretty fun."
  • Skylar Grey credits Eminem with encouraging her to experiment with rapping. The singer-songwriter, who has collaborated with Slim Shady on several occasions, including co-penning his hit "Love The Way You Lie," knew she wanted to rap at some point and sought her pal's advice on her work. She told Billboard magazine.

"The first song that I wrote as a rap I sent to Eminem and I said, 'Tell me if this sucks. Should I ever rap again?' and, because he's the best person to ask in my life, he called me and was like, 'You can rap.' So it gave me the confidence to keep going."
  • Grey told HipHopDX.com: "All the rappers I've worked with have influenced me in a way. It's always amazing to me how many words and punchlines they can fit into a verse. They can really tell a story. That's why I wanted to rap in the first place. I don't want my words to be confined by melodies all the time."
