Songfacts®:

  • This was the last musical idea that Slash brought to his band for Living The Dream. It all came together very quickly, and after vocalist Myles Kennedy heard Slash's guitar demo he immediately came up with a vocal melody. Kennedy explained his lyrical content in a track by track breakdown:

"It's about having this awareness that you're really close to obtaining your goals, as well as beating the odds. I thought about it from the perspective of a young musician striving for something, only the doors keep closing on him. But he's already come so far. So, it's a reminder to stay on course because you're almost there."
  • The song is the closing track of Living the Dream. Kennedy said: "It seemed like a good idea to end the record on. Keep pushing through and persevering, and eventually what you're shooting for will happen."
  • The black-and-white video captures Slash and company's concert at The Eventim Apollo in London on February 20, 2019. The clip features film from the show, along with backstage shots and footage of fans going to the concert.
